Ian Whitaker

Name: Ian Whitaker

Style of work: Landscapes

Short Bio: I have been drawing and painting and crafting for too many decades to remember and have enjoyed delivering commissions in oils, pastels, pencil and multi-medium over this time. It takes time to establish styles and ways of working and I still enjoy experimenting, there is always something to learn however, I do draw some inspiration from the early 20 century, “ Norwich” school. I now live in Nidderdale and use subjects from the wider, atmospheric environment for my bigger landscapes but also love working in my garden studio to produce smaller often impressionistic pieces, portraits still- life’s and occasional cartoons! Art is so elusive to define, for me, the relationship between those who produce and those who view is the key. The hope is that a thought or an emotion is transmitted and hopefully appreciated, even if not always as the “artist” intended.
