Short Bio: Liz Salter is a Yorkshire based landscape painter. She is inspired by walking in wild, rough places in all weathers and records these experiences in sketchbooks. Back in the studio the work evolves from the drawings and from remembered aspects of the place. The work becomes a visual equivalent for the experiences. The paintings are mixed media including collage, drawn line, ink, pastel and acrylic paint, reflecting the layers of history in the landscape.
Liz Salter has always painted. A career in Theatre Design was followed by teaching textiles and embroidery in colleges in Yorkshire before taking up painting full time and gaining an MA in Fine Art at the University of Leeds. She has exhibited widely in Britain and in Ireland. Her work is in private collections in this country and abroad.
